Description

* Speaker : Prof. Arie Bodek (University of Rochester)

* Abstract : Drell-Yan lepton pairs are produced in proton-antiproton collisions through an intermediate Z boson. The forward-backward asymmetry in the polar-angle distribution in the CDF detector is used to extract an effective electroweak mixing angle of 0.23221 +-0.00046. This result, when interpreted within the context of the standard model yields an on-shell electroweak mixing angle of 0.22400 +- 0.00045, or equivalently a W-boson mass of 80.328+-0.024 GeV.
