*Abstract: 기체전자증폭기(Gas Electron Multiplier)를 활용한 GEM 검출기는 마이크로 패턴 기체 검출기(Micro Pattern Gaseous Detector)의 일종으로 와이어챔버와 같이 이온화된 전자를 증폭하여 입자를 검출해 낸다. 본 세미나에서는 GEM검출기의 원리와 장단점을 소개하고, GEM검출기에 기반한 다양한 응용검출기 개발 가능성에 대하여 알아본다. 아울러 GEM의 한국 생산시설 소개와 생산 현황도 살펴본다.
